She marked her way through the crowd with small pieces of paper. Scrawled across each one – tiny words written in smudged letters. My mind in a crisis, the way my ears poke out, my need to be accepted. Scraps left behind her. She didn’t look back at them, didn’t miss their presence in her fingers. Everything she hated about herself, she abandoned in the swarm of people and spread across the world like confetti.
