84 words: Night Terrors

He found her in the dark, when the moon peaked above stars. He found her in the deep and shallow hours, her tired body a tangle of leaves.

She saw him stalking her in the night. Saw heard his guttural growl. She knew when she closed her eyes she’d feel the pulling, remember the pine needles in her hair. She faught off the dark demon of sleep, waiting until the sunlight kissed her cheeks before closing her eyes. Safe and warm in the light.
