104 words: Sacrifice

Stripped down to his bare knuckles and tendons, he had nothing left to give. He had come before her, fully clothed, his demeanor bright, his belly stuffed.
He had gladly given up his clothes, and only barely shuddered when he pulled out his hair. When she asked for more, he struggled to pick apart his fingernails. It was only when he began to peel back his skin that he hesitated.
He shrank into himself, aware of veins, exposed organs, the awkward way he offered himself.
“Will you take my word?” He offered.
She considered his gesture, studying his face. “That just simply won’t do.”
